Welcome to ResNet!Welcome! ResNet is Penn's program to wire student residences for video, voice, and data communications. The ResNet program reflects Penn's commitment to enable students to function skillfully in an information-rich, global environment, as well as to make campus living an attractive and convenient option. ResNet serves more than 7,000 students in 15 residences: All twelve undergraduate College Houses, Sansom East and West, and Mayer Hall. What's new for 2002/2003?
Keeping up-to-dateAll electronic information about Penn is accessible from the Penn Web (http://www.upenn.edu/). Stay abreast of new developments through the following sources:
ResNet wall platesResNet services are delivered through ResNet wall plates located in student bedrooms, living rooms, and lounges. Each student has a wall plate that enables access to ResNet's video, voice, and data services. Some wall plates have four jacks, one to access each service - cable television, common telephone line, private telephone line, and PennNet Ethernet. Many double rooms have a wall plate with seven jacks. The services are the same, except that if both roommates have televisions, they will have to obtain a "splitter" cable to supply two signals from the TV jack. Service TransfersIf you move to another room in any ResNet building:
End-of-academic year disconnectionsAll Student Telephone Services telephone lines and Personal Authorization Codes (PAC) are automatically disconnected in early May. The actual disconnection date is available from Student Telephone Services (http://www.upenn.edu/sts/). If you plan to remain on campus after the scheduled disconnection date, you must submit a request to extend service at Student Telephone Services. All IP address leases are for two months, and a different IP address may automatically be issued to your computer when the lease expires. |
